Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic radiographers to join our friendly team where 2 posts are available or more if part time applicants are received.
A full time post would be 37.5 hours to be worked over a 7 day week, but we would also encourage part time applicants. You will also be expected to participate in the late rota which involves working up to 10pm and weekends but there is no overnight work.
The department has two general X-ray rooms, a fluoroscopy room, three ultrasound rooms and a DEXA scanner. There is a minor injuries unit on site, outpatients, elective surgical and medical wards and the hospital performs a range of elective theatre requiring a mobile image intensifier.
There is also a Cardiac Catheter Lab which some radiographers rotate through.

Main duties of the job
* To provide a high quality service to patients attending the Diagnostic Imaging Department of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust.
* To produce images of the highest possible quality to aid diagnosis.
* To assist in the practical training and mentoring of Radiography students and other health care professionals.
* To be an autonomous practitioner or work as part of a team, whichever is appropriate for the circumstance.
* To carry out Radiographic procedures within the Diagnostic Imaging Department and Trust in accordance with established protocols.
* To perform Radiographic examinations of patients referred from outpatients, inpatients, GP’s theatre and Accident and Emergency unit and any other recognised referrer.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
