We have an exciting and challenging post within our small, enthusiastic Health Improvement Team, which encompasses taking forward a programme of generic Public Health / Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland in delivering on national and local targets and priorities, with a particular focus on smoking cessation, but also working on alcohol, mental health, suicide reduction, and staff health and wellbeing.
This post will operate within Skye, Lochalsh, and Wester Ross, providing services through face-to-face, email, and online contact. There will also be Health Improvement/promotion activities within Skye, Lochalsh, and Wester Ross, such as health and wellbeing campaigns and education activities.
You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practices of Public Health/Health Improvement and preferably have health improvement/public health experience. This includes the use of data for assessing needs and communicating messages about health, as well as working with delivery partners and communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities for tackling inequality and promoting health, would be advantageous. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training. You will be knowledgeable of the effects that inequalities have on health and the causes of health inequalities.
You will have a SVQ level 4 or above or a similar, related health or social care qualification.
