As Senior Technician, you will have direct responsibility for the day to day line management of all technicians in the school. You will be required to support the school community primarily within the science subjects but you will be required to contribute to the wider technician team in other areas when required.
Key responsibilities are:-
1. Preparation and servicing of experimental kits for Science subjects
2. Prepare/manufacture teaching material as required
3. Maintaining appropriate stock levels of solutions and consumablesDelivery and setting up of equipment and experiments to classrooms
4. Collection of resources from classrooms and work areas
5. Maintain efficient, effective and organised laboratory/stores
6. Ensure chemicals are stored correctly
7. Ordering, stock control and maintaining an accurate inventory of resources
8. Regular cleaning, maintenance and repair of resources
9. Assist with the implementation of safety regulations
10. Carry out risk assessments when required
11. Disposal of chemicals and waste products safely
12. Undertake other duties as directed by Senior Technician, i.e. ICT/technical support
You should have experience in providing science support to a varied client base within a busy environment - preferably within an educational establishment and have an awareness of current curriculum needs. You will have a proven ability to understand, follow and convey technical instructions, demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills. This post requires a high degree of flexibility; managing the day to day aspects you will be required to have the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
You will work 22.2 hours per week on a term time basis.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership and approval by Care Commission Scotland.
