About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Rehabilitation Assistant to assist a 64-year-old male client with an acquired brain injury (ABI). The client requires full assistance with transfers. Support will involve working alongside his multidisciplinary team (MDT) to help him achieve his rehabilitation goals. Currently, the client resides in a care home, with a long-term goal of transitioning to a more suitable living environment with support.
The role involves building a professional, supportive relationship with the client while encouraging engagement in his rehabilitation programme. You will assist with daily living activities, including full personal care, in collaboration with care home staff, as all care is provided on a 2:1 basis. Supporting the client in accessing the care home’s garden and grounds is an essential part of his rehabilitation goals, with the aim of increasing his tolerance for wider community access in the future. You will work alongside the Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to support the client’s communication, which is currently limited to thumbs-up/thumbs-down responses. You will collaborate with the physiotherapy team to assist with the client’s weekly physiotherapy sessions and exercises.
Your responsibilities will include following the client’s structured daily routine, including oral care, physiotherapy stretches, prayer time, and scheduled rest periods. Ensuring the client remains comfortable and informed. You will be expected to respect and support the client’s religious values, as he enjoys listening to Qur’an prayers on his Qur’an cube. Engaging the client in meaningful activities, such as discussing his interests like cooking and spending time outdoors when possible, is encouraged.
Your main attributes will be friendly, approachable and have empathy towards your client treating them with respect and dignity at all times. We support vulnerable people to live as independently as possible, by building their confidence and skills to realise their potential.
