Salary: £41,671 to £57,422 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The University of Nottingham seeks applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Mechanical Design and Solid Mechanics. This role is offered as research & teaching where the person appointed would deliver internationally leading research, lead relevant research programs complementing and expanding existing capability as well as further develop and form new collaborations with key industries and leading international research centres. The role holder will additionally contribute to teaching on our growing undergraduate taught programs in Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering.
Applications are invited from candidates with a proven research track record in one or more of the following areas:
* Mechanical & automated design
* Design optimisation using computational methods including machine learning
* Design and analysis for sustainable engineering
The role holder will also take responsibility for delivering high quality teaching and will contribute to the planning, design, development and delivery of materials on our growing undergraduate taught programmes in mechanical and manufacturing engineering. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to lead teaching in one or more of the following areas:
* Solid Mechanics
* Computational design and analysis
The post holder may also make a significant contribution to the Department/Faculty via leadership and/or administrative management and/or co-ordination of specific initiatives.
This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
