About the job ?
The purpose of the role is to proactively explore fraud related revenue risks to GWR through the effective analysis of data and other intelligence sources. The role holder will be required to identify fraud related problems on our network, and to produce subject and problem profiles for individuals and areas which suggest fraud may be prevalent. This information will be used to support the Revenue Protection and Counter Fraud strategic goals of keeping the business informed of the revenue risks associated with Fraud, quantifying the value of loss and the benefit of implementing counter fraud measures, and the impact of our activities upon income streams.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Support the Revenue Protection, Fraud and Revenue Recovery teams in the delivery of the Revenue Protection and Counter Fraud Strategy
2. Drawing insights from and manipulating complex datasets, and a variety of intelligence sources.
3. Providing actionable analysis and insight to compliment the outputs produced
4. Use data to develop subject and problem profiles.
5. Identify routes, locations and processes which are at risk from fraudulent activity
6. Highlight and quantify the weaknesses in current processes
7. Produce and own ‘Problem Profiles' which detail the findings of the analysis and support improvement recommendations to the business
8. Evidence the impact of our activities
You'll need to be?
9. Able to work competently with minimal supervision
10. Used to working under pressure and to deadlines
11. Experienced in drawing out relevant information from a variety of sources
12. Experience in crime analysis and criminal profiling
13. Proactive and able to use your own initiative
14. Able to produce high quality analytical products
What do I need?
15. An awareness of Fraud Act and railway fare evasion offence definitions
16. Experience of managing a varied workload and prioritising tasks
17. An understanding of responsibilities relating to data protection and GDPR
18. The ability to communicate your analysis to a non-technical audience
19. An awareness of the National Intelligence Model would be an advantage
20. Experience using MS Office, in particular Excel, Power BI and case management tools
About the location
This role can be remote, hybrid or on-site depending on how you work best. The team is based in Vastern House, Reading. However, you will need to be able to travel to Reading occasionally and there may be a need to travel to other parts of the GWR network from time to time.
Working pattern
Full time, 37 hours per week. If you need flexibility away from the traditional 9-5 working pattern, we can discuss how this can be accommodated.
Additional information
Our primary data analysis tool is currently Power BI. Familiarity with the tool and capabilities of the Power BI Service would be an advantage, but training and development support will be provided.
