You will focus on the value recovery of excess, repairable, and potential waste stock, driving Sue Ryder's objective to be commercially environmentally sustainable.

Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Oversee the pilot sorting operation, ensuring efficient processes for sorting, repairing, and redistributing stock.
2. Develop and implement robust procedures for assessing and categorising incoming stock based on its reuse, repair, or recycling potential.
3. Optimise the value of stock through repair, resale, or recycling, aiming to reduce waste to landfill.
4. Identify and develop new revenue streams, such as partnerships with upcycling businesses or selling to specialised markets.
5. Build relationships with external organisations, recycling companies, repair specialists, local councils, and environmental charities, to support reuse initiatives.
Key Skills:
1. Proven experience in managing reuse programs and implementing waste management initiatives.
2. Knowledge of reuse related regulations and compliance requirements and/or membership in recycling or waste management, such as CIWM (Chartered Institute of Wastes Management) is desirable.
3. Familiarity with established sustainability frameworks or initiatives, e.g. UKSNR (UK Sustainability Network for Retail), Textiles 2030 and relevant legislation, such as waste management and product safety laws.
4. Strong operational management experience, ideally within the charity retail, recycling, or reuse sectors.
5. Proven ability to optimise processes and drive efficiency in sorting and repair operations.
6. Knowledge of environmental sustainability principles, particularly circular economy practices.
