The stop smoking practitioner is responsible for supporting and facilitating the delivery of smoking cessation programmes within the Healthy Communities integrated lifestyle service for people in Warwickshire.
We have opportunities for new practitioners across Warwickshire. Clinics run from Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 20:00 hours.
Full and part-time roles are available.
A full driving license and business insurance are required due to the nature of the role.
You will receive your own cohort of patients and face-to-face clinics, including the delivery of group sessions to support and maintain the program. You will help improve the accessibility of Warwickshire's Stop Smoking Service through the proactive promotion of the smoking cessation programme and referral pathways, working with key healthcare providers, allied professionals, community events, local agencies, and the general public.
This can be a challenging but extremely rewarding role for the right candidate. You will be part of both the smoking cessation team and the wider service team. You will also receive additional in-house training including data security, first aid, and safeguarding.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate would preferably have completed and be registered with the NCSCT as a Stop Smoking Practitioner already and have experience working in this role.

Stop Smoking Practitioner
MAIN PURPOSE
Our Stop Smoking Practitioners deliver one-to-one and group stop smoking interventions within a wide range of settings. Across Warwickshire, our service includes work within one-to-one and group settings and may also involve evening and weekend work.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly across the County as required, ensuring their skills, expertise, and knowledge are fully utilised.
This post will:
* Provide information to smokers to enable them to make an informed choice to attempt to stop smoking and support the smoker with a formal evidence-based quit programme.
* Develop and improve accessibility of Warwickshire's Health Communities Service and Stop Smoking Service through proactive promotion of smoking cessation programmes and referral pathways.
* Provide ongoing support to a caseload of referrals, supporting each quit attempt in line with national and company standards.
* Contribute to the planning, delivery, and development of the stop smoking service including specific project work.
* In conjunction with the Delivery team lead, plan and deliver an appropriate and accessible cessation service within the delivery team area.
* Provide cessation support including one-to-one and group support, assessing clients' suitability for Stop Smoking treatments.
* Adhere to service protocols and procedures in relation to the provision of supportive pharmacotherapy medication.
* Collate accurate clinical records in line with national PHE NCSCT requirements and input data into the service web-based database in a timely and professional manner.
* Support the service in delivering key performance indicators and activity as set out within the service specification.
* Support the delivery of promotion activity across Warwickshire in line with the service marketing strategy.
* Routine maintenance and the checking and calibration of carbon monoxide monitors in line with service schedules.
* Work flexibly to provide a coordinated service across localities to meet client needs.
* Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, undertake evidence-based practice, and promote the use of new and innovative practices.
* In conjunction with the delivery team lead, conduct analysis and evaluation of designated programmes to improve service quality.
* Identify issues or concerns to line manager for appropriate action.
* Contribute to ongoing needs assessment, audit, and other governance programmes.
* Support additional service needs such as NHS Health Checks with training if required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Education to GCSE Standard at grades A-C for a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Mathematics and English language or literature.
* NCSCT Smoking Cessation Certified.
* Health degree (or equivalent) is advantageous.
