An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Nursery Nurse or Play Specialist to join the Paediatric Cardiothoracic Team to cover a 12 month maternity post.
The successful candidate will be based on the Paediatric Cardiology ward, which incorporates a 6 bedded high dependency unit, and will provide care to children from birth to 18 years of age with a range of medical and surgical needs including mechanical support. They will also cover the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit if required.

We are looking for a light-hearted, enthusiastic, and motivated Nursery Nurse to join our team and provide high-quality care in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment.
You will work alongside a Play Specialist and Nursery Nurse and manage your own workload. The play team provides play programmes to long-term patients, supports children during difficult procedures by using distraction therapy, and ensures their stay is as fun and relaxed as possible.
This is an exciting specialty with many opportunities to gain and develop new skills and experience.

* To assist in therapeutic assessments and carry out play programmes for children and young people in hospital, according to their individual needs and as part of the overall care plan.
* To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of play using reflective practice to achieve best outcomes.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
