The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for flexible and reliable individuals to work as Facilities Technicians (Patient Environment) at Wharfedale Hospital, which is located in Otley.
We currently have permanent vacancies for Facilities Technicians to work as Ward Housekeepers on wards, department areas, or public spaces. Various posts are available for Monday to Friday work patterns:
1. POST TYPE ONE: 0700-1330 (30 hours a week)
2. POST TYPE TWO: 1200-1830 (30 hours a week)
3. POST TYPE THREE: 1130-1930 (37.5 hours a week)
Successful applicants will be invited to an interview assessment centre held on 8th January 2025. The assessment centre will consist of an interview with set questions for the candidates around activities such as cleaning, ward food service, task prioritisation, and infection prevention. Details of which may be taken from the attached job description. There will also be a short interactive test where the candidate is asked to take part in a mock patient interaction relating to something likely to be within the role expectation such as asking for directions or having trouble completing the meal food order.
A full enhanced DBS check will be required for all roles.
Main Duties of the Job
The roles will provide cleaning duties (dusting, mopping, cleaning toilets, sinks, patient beds, etc.) within either wards, departments, or public areas, depending on which role the successful candidates are appointed into. Within ward areas, the role is also required to complete full catering services to patients (after training has been given).
* Ensuring the environment is cleaned to the highest standards.
* Catering duties involve a caring, patient-centered approach to meal & beverage services.
* There will be an expectation to complete ad-hoc duties when required.

Job Responsibilities
A full job description is attached but key duties include:
* Cleaning all areas of allocation to the required standards and using the approved and trained techniques.
* Completing the delivery of/support the delivery of the patient meal service.
* Replenishment of consumable items within the area of allocation.
* Removal of waste materials and disposal of such in correct waste disposal streams.
* Operation of any cleaning equipment trained to facilitate allocated duties (i.e. regen oven, vacuum, floor cleaning equipment).
* Able to record all information required as part of the completion of duties.
* Attend training sessions required to allow the completion of allocated duties.
Person Specification
Experience
* To have experience of cleaning commercially in previous roles.
* To have experience of catering commercially in previous roles.
* To have experience of working within a customer-facing role.
* To have experience of working within a healthcare setting.
* To have experience of IT skills/computer literate.
* To have experience of infection/cross-contamination control practice.
Skills & Behaviours
* To be able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
* To conduct themselves in a polite professional appearance/manner at all times.
* To be able to prioritise workload with competing demands and tight deadlines through effective time management.
* Ability to read/understand verbal instructions.
Qualifications
* To have basic literacy & numeracy - GCSE or equivalent in maths/English.
* To have Food Safety level 1, Cleaning/Housekeeping NVQ or equivalent Health and Safety level 1.
Additional Requirements
* The role is a very physically active role and candidates must be able to complete all duties required and be cleared for duties by occupational health.
