Position Summary:
Penske Racing Shocks seeks a Design Engineer to participate in the design and development of high-end shock absorbers and related products for motorsport, military, aerospace, and passenger applications. In this role, you will apply engineering principles, material science, fluid dynamics, and analytical methods to develop practical solutions for both custom and standard applications meeting durability, performance, and cost requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the design and development of new products from concept to launch
* Assist in the research and development of products and technologies
* Interface directly with customers and suppliers
* Create detailed production drawings for use by internal and external manufacturing resources
* Develop innovative solutions that balance damper performance, packaging, and weight requirements while maintaining ease of assembly and manufacturability
* Verify that components meet structural allowables to ensure they withstand expected performance loads
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
* Proficient in CAD software such as PTC Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA, or equivalent
* FEA Experience (Ansys, Abaqus, etc.)
* Experience in an engineering or production environment
* Excellent communication skills
* Organizational, planning, and time management skills
* Self-motivated, proactive attitude
* Ability to take ownership and seek out answers
