York Street Medical Practice is a vibrant Cambridge city centre GP Surgery caring for 10,700 patients. The role is a varied and exciting position, ranging from reception to administrative responsibilities of a busy GP practice. You will need to have good customer service and communication skills. We like a positive “can-do” attitude. If you have IT skills and ideally knowledge of MS Office, along with previous experience of assisting the public and administrative experience, then we would like to receive an application from you. Previous experience of working within a NHS setting is desirable.
We are looking for a part time candidate for 24.5 hours. There may be the potential to increase hours later in the year, either on a temporary or permanent basis. The hours/days we are looking for are below with flexibility as and when required.
Wednesday 8.30- 5.00pm
Thursday 8.00- 5.00pm
Friday 8.30-6.30pm

Job Description
Job Title: Receptionist/ Administrator
Accountable to: Assistant Practice Manager
Purpose:
To provide reception and administrative support for the Practice to assist the Doctor and Nurse Teams care for our patients. Facilitate non clinical services for our patients.
Job summary
Your main duties will include but are not limited to:
* Receive and make telephone calls
* Attend to patients at the front desk
* Assist with queries from patients and other medical professionals
* Using a computer clinical system to process prescriptions, registrations, booking and amending appointments and other administrative tasks.
* Opportunity to progress learning on more specialised areas of the role such as e-referrals, summarising, medical reports, childhood immunisations and cervical screening administration
Job responsibilities
* Dealing with patients, visitors and other health professionals either in person or on the telephone.
* Assisting patients with enquires regarding results of tests, prescriptions and appointment bookings.
* Scanning and processing documents into patients records
* Issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with enquiries relating to prescriptions
* Entering new patient registrations and updating patient information onto the clinical system
* Processing patients’ records when they register and leave the Practice.
* Processing of internal messages and tasks.
* Processing referrals, smear invites and summarising patient’s records.
* Work closely with the GPs, Practice Management and other members of the Practice Team to contribute to planning, developing and implementing changes within the practice.
* Administrative tasks as appropriate and directed by the Senior Patient Care Co-ordinator or Assistant Practice Manager.
* Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
