Job Summary
Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC), situated in the Dame Clare Marx Building, opened in the Autumn of 2024. This cutting-edge facility specializes in elective Orthopaedic surgery and Orthopaedic day cases. With eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and comprehensive support services, ESEOC is poised to become one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. The Centre is committed to delivering high-volume, low-complexity cases locally, fostering excellence, and contributing to education, training, and research in the field.
We are looking for an experienced senior physiotherapist to join the new service. Experience working with elective Orthopaedic patients at Band 6 level is ideal, but we would also consider candidates with a range of experiences at Band 5 who are ready for the next step in their careers.
The vacancy is for 22 / 22.5 hours per week, either 2 long days - 8:00 - 20:00, or 3 x 7.5 hour shifts a mix of Early 08:00 - 16:00 and late 12:00 - 20:00 shifts.
Applicants should also ideally be experienced student clinical educators with current University run practice educators course.
Main duties of the job
1. To perform safe, evidenced based physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and deliver an individualised treatment programme from a range of options.
2. To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with diverse or complex presentations, using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to assist in diagnosis and choose from a range of treatment options to achieve the desired goal. To formulate treatment plans and recommend best course of intervention, considering patients' personal goals and objectives, to develop comprehensive discharge plans.
3. To be responsible for own caseload, and for a defined area of the service, initially with supervision of senior staff then progressing towards working without direct supervision. Supervision involves regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and one to one assessments.
4. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.
5. To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.

* BSc / MSc Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
* Attendance at teaching relevant to Trauma and Orthopaedics

* Membership of professional body

* Post graduate modules (e.g. Masters level or equivalent) relevant to T and O/MSK, leadership, service improvement
Experience

* Proven post registration experience including working in a Trauma and Orthopaedic setting.
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development involving specialist additional knowledge and experience
* Experience of facilitating discharges for Orthopaedic patients
Desirable
* Experience of working different shift patterns across 7 days

* Knowledge and application of Physio assessments and interventions relevant to T and O
