Lead Cloud Platform Engineer London – Hybrid (2 days a week in office) As a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be key in ensuring our business continues to grow and be instrumental in defining the principals, technologies and methodologies we require to move us towards an always-on Operation. From early on, you’ll help empower our breakthrough innovations, be given challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and take ownership and responsibility. While we have a Cloud First strategy, we also have a significant on premise estate, so and ideal candidate will have experience and desire to work in both those areas of technology. The successful candidate must be an Azure SME, have a good understanding of Security and Cost optimisation. This must be underpinned with the Terraform knowledge and ability to develop Infrastructure as Code. We are looking for someone who is eager to use and grow your technological skills during a period of significant planned growth. Reporting into Cloud Engineering Manager and working with the leads and Technical Operations manager across the operational area as well as other technical leads, you will ensure that new technologies and product suites are delivered on time, on budget and always with an eye on the in-life capabilities and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities: Activity both in a continuous improvement cadence as well as project based work. Work will be delivered using an Agile framework Design and build cloud-based infrastructure and architectures that optimize for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Define the NFRs for new services in the design phase Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication, implementation, and delivery of cloud-based solutions. Develop and maintain automation tools, scripts, and processes for cloud-based application deployment, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Attend Technical Design Authority meetings to be the voice of the TechOps group Assist in low level design of new products and implementations of new technologies Be an SME in the requirements of the TechOps function, including on being the Technical Lead for Cloud Infrastructure, HCL and Terraform and on premise Infrastructure Analyse and improve the legacy estate. Skills and Experience: Batchelor’s degree in Computer science or allied discipline Microsoft Certification Previous experience working with Cloud based providers (Azure) is essential Previous experience of working in a regulated industry (preferably FCA / PRA controlled) Working in an Agile/Scrum environment Experience in a DevOps / DevSecOps environment. Experience in Infrastructure as a code – ideally Terraform, Google Deployment Manager, AWS CloudFormation Excellent communicator able to influence others from a wide variety of business functions.
