Description Wood is looking for a forward thinking, engaging individual who has the leadership skills to take on the full responsibility for leading the implementation of all health, safety, security, environment and assurance policies, strategies, objectives, procedures, and processes across our EMEA operations. The Vice-President of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (VP of HSEQ) will have a dual reporting line into the President of HSEQ for Operations globally and the President of EMEA for Operations, and the roles’ ultimate objective is keeping our employees safe from harm and caring for the environment. Key objectives include; Working as part of Functional and EMEA Regional Leadership teams to provide advice, coaching, and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements and above all, assuring the safety of people impacted by our work Leading effective and consistent HSEQ management over a significant geographical area and across diverse industries, whilst ensuring compliance with HSEQ Management System Selection, coaching, development, and leadership of an efficient and competent team of HSEQ specialists Bringing innovation and continual improvement to the management of HSEQ and embedment of Wood Safety Shield Implementation of Fatality Prevention principles across EMEA Operations and of Major Incident Prevention principles The individual must be committed to the creation of an environment that supports Wood’s safety agenda. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide both the necessary challenge and support to both HSEQ and Operational Team members are fundamental to the role. Experience at a senior level within Safety or risk-based roles and a demonstrative history of success in senior leadership positions will be highly valued. Knowledge of highly regulated and complex operating environments and experience dealing with regulators, criminal case management and client stakeholder management is desirable Responsibilities Drives the planning, implementation, monitoring and review of all aspects of the Wood HSE management system Support the organisation's aim to avoid harm to those impacted by our operations, and minimise or eliminate environmental harm Support the organisation's aim to avoid operational losses, maximise brand protection and to assure continued process capability to Wood clients Provide support to Business Managers and HSE reports in the development and roll-out of Wood HSE objectives and other initiatives Provide expert analysis and recommendations on the HSE aspects of bids, mergers, and acquisitions • Provide support to Business Managers in incident investigations through the use of an appropriate Investigation process Ensure that internal and external compliance certifications remain operational Ensure HSEQ legislation is complied with at all times, and report any breaches Ensure that all HSE documentation is kept up-to-date and ensure policies and practices are both applied and effective, by means of a structured and risk-based assurance process Ensure close out of assurance and / or audit findings, competent audit reports and proper and effective corrective and preventive actions Sponsor and promote HSE awareness and development initiatives Support Business Managers and HSE Advisors in the timely reporting of both leading and lagging HSE Indicators Undertake lagging indicator reviews of incident/accident trends and provide timely advice to Business Management on actions and initiatives Ensure effective working practices are safe and add to an improved Company HSE performance Monitor and where appropriate adopt 'best-practice' and developing 'leading-edge' HSE initiatives as appropriate to the business Ensure effective suppliers' HSE performance across the region Manage an effective and efficient team of HSE professionals Provide mentorship and training for graduate/new recruits into the HSE team Provide cross-business / pan-Wood support as required Qualifications Qualifications: Degree in relevant technical, industry or HSE specific discipline NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma (desirable) NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable) Knowledge, skills, and experience: Extensive HSE experience Experience of working in and managing a HSE Management System environment Supervisory or direct management experience of more junior staff members particularly across a large geographic area and cultures Project/contract experience in O&G or other comparable industry Broad HSE experience in similar / other industry HSE standards and legal requirements in their geographies UK experience is highly desirable due to the depth of legislative requirements Internal and external audit procedures and third-party certification audit practices Personal attributes: Effective two-way communicator, comfortable with presentation of HSE concepts and programs, able to build strong working relationships with peers Comfortable in both Client and other 3rd party environments; able to build exemplary working relationship with Client and other Stakeholders Proven and effective planning and organisational skills Confident self-starter who can work independently
