We are an all age hospice, delivering all our services free of charge to adults, young adults and children living with a life-limiting illness in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages; we also offer supportive wrap-around care for their families and carers. We have been caring for local people since 1973 and our dedicated staff and volunteers are central to the care we provide and all we do. We strive to go that extra mile to provide a warm, friendly and peaceful environment both at the hospice or in a family’s home.
Why volunteer with us?
Volunteering is a great way to gain new or develop skills. You will get to meet with new, like-minded people and increase your confidence too.
You will receive training relevant to your role and have the opportunity to attend courses and events run by Dougie Mac.
By volunteering with us, you will be helping the hospice to deliver vital services: all whilst improving your wellbeing and personal skills.
Our Dementia Activity Group Volunteers help to ensure the smooth running of all our group sessions for people with dementia, which take place regularly across multiple venues in North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

* Being an empathetic and enthusiastic participant in the sessions, making sure that attendees enjoy their time in the groups
* Assisting in the taking down of the venue after the session, leaving it clean and presentable

What happens next?

We will print a badge and send it (with a lanyard) to Jonathan Lawton’s team for when you are next in.
What will I have to wear?
A volunteer badge must be worn at all times with smart/sensible clothing appropriate to the role.
How much availability and time commitment do I need to give?

Will I have to complete any training?
Yes: all volunteers are required to complete mandatory training; staff can support with this if required.
You will be required to have a DBS check which will be submitted by ourselves and you will be reimbursed with vehicle travel expenses. To register your interest please click here.
