We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the team responsible for developing and delivering volunteering initiatives for students. The successful candidate will also be involved with wider Division initiatives, which cover a range of enhancement activities.
Your main duties will include building relationships with charities and not-for-profit organisations to develop volunteering opportunities for students and working with students to encourage them to engage with volunteering. You will raise awareness of volunteering to students and colleagues across the university to increase engagement and promote the benefits of volunteering. Responsibilities also include supporting and mentoring volunteers on a range of projects and running both large and small scale events to promote volunteering. You will also be involved in supporting a range of initiatives as part of the wider team.
We are looking for someone who has a background in volunteer management and working with young people. You should be well organised and have strong project management skills. Your written and verbal communication skills will be excellent, and you will have significant experience of developing effective working relationships with a range of partners, especially in the not-for-profit and community sector. A strong commitment to working with students and a positive, innovative and flexible approach to work is also required.
Overall Purpose of the Job
* To coordinate the delivery of high quality volunteering and awards activities, and supervise the work of assigned colleagues as necessary in the delivery of initiatives, projects and events. This will include volunteering initiatives in the local neighbourhood as well as being involved in the University’s international flagship volunteering programme, Team Rwanda.
* To support colleagues to embed locally and University-wide a culture of excellent service provision and continuous improvement, placing the student experience at the heart of what we do, with support for a single Professional Services (PS) team working flexibly across organisational boundaries.
* To support senior colleagues in the delivery of a range of volunteering and awards activities to support agreed plans and strategy.
