Investigator Scientist - Neurobiology - Dr Marco Tripodi - LMB 2554
Laboratory of Molecular Biology, UKRI Medical Research Council
Starting salary: £43,391 - £45,589 per annum
Fixed term until 31 December 2027
Location: MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
We are seeking a candidate with a background in neuroscience, engineering, biophysics, or biology to work in the group of Dr Marco Tripodi.
The candidate should have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related subject. The ideal candidate will have experience in either in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, genomics or behavioural studies in animal models and a strong interest in applying these methods to investigate the relation between motor and cognitive control in rodents.
Good programming skills (e.g. Python) are desirable, but good technical support is present in the lab and we can provide training opportunities for candidates interested in improving their coding abilities. Candidates with a quantitative/theoretical background, such as in computational neuroscience or bioinformatics, and an interest in expanding their experimental skills are strongly invited to apply, as training is available. Creative thinking and intellectual independence are paramount; experience of high density neuropixel recordings would be particularly useful.
One of the main tasks of the candidate will be to characterize the contribution of canonical motor circuits to spatial cognition by interfacing imaging/electrophysiological methods with genomics and behavioural paradigms in mice. The project falls under the recently awarded ERC Consolidator grant entitled “Kinetic Cognition”.
A collaborative, open minded and friendly attitude is essential. The candidate is expected to work closely with other members of the lab offering support related to her/his field of competence to the ongoing research as well as conduct an independent research project.
