Job summary
The gynaecology nurse specialist is a key team member in the delivery of specialist gynaecology nursing services to enable and support timely and effective care, appropriate assessment and intervention for patients with specialist gynaecology needs in all settings.
They will, as part of the specialist gynaecology specialist team, support the specialist nursing service and medical team in undertaking the assessment and triage of patients, ensuring patients and carers receive high quality care, support and advice.
The post holder will be a registered nurse with a qualification and experience in a specialist gynaecology field and who is motivated and will adhere to the values of the trust.
To support patients on the gynaecology pathways, from GP referral, through treatment and follow up or supportive discharge, through personalised care planning.
Be part of MDT team, attending locally and central MDT meetings, and be required to present cases for review
Work with other appropriate professionals across all care settings of the pathway, building good relationships with both surgical and medical oncology teams. Support patient in clinic/ ward and virtual settings.
The role has a nurse led element to the role, working within a busy team
Main duties of the job

To work closely with the other Clinical Nurse Specialists with the development of the specialist nursing services.
To act as the patients, advocate, supporting their involvement in decision making and delivering complex diagnoses and information.
Have the skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and treatments within gynaecology.
Contribute to the writing of protocols and procedures applicable to the gynaecology service.
To support the Specialist Nurses to provide and develop cross site nursing services, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care in line with government and professional guidelines.
To develop advanced skills in assessment and evaluation in supporting the Specialist nurses in nurse led clinics.
To develop expert knowledge of gynaecology conditions.
To support patient through process diagnosis, management and treatment and follow up of cancer.
Have the skills to recognise changes in patients' conditions who require the intervention of others and refer on as appropriate.
Have the skills to support patients with concerns with investigations/treatment options with empathy and specialist knowledge of disease management.
Make appropriate referrals to other members of the trust, community and Primary care.
Provides support, empathy and reassurance in the delivery of patient care, and engage in effective communication with patients, carers, relatives and visitors.

To develop and work closely with members of the Multi- Disciplinary Team regarding all aspects of the gynaecology service.
To attend MDT Meetings and develop the presentation skills, as you may be required to present cases.
