Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Brentford
Overview:
NRL are recruiting for a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced Commercial Manager/Business Manager to join their client on a large and exciting major pre-FEED and FEED Project.
The role will be based in the client's London Brentford office full time. This is a 6 month contract role.
Responsibilities:
The key duties and responsibilities of the advertised role are:
1. Act as the project team's focal point and expert on the prime contract, commercial basis and advise the project team on all contractual matters supported by off-project expertise including legal where necessary.
2. Proactively participates in the change management process to ensure early identification and active pursuit of commercial entitlement.
3. In conjunction with the Project Director, serve as focal point to embed within the project loss avoidance techniques and generate and coordinate mitigation strategies in case of any claims and disputes.
4. Provides project financial information/management to support clients rolling forecast and business planning.
5. Regularly review project performance against targets for gross margin and cash and identify corrective actions/commercial strategy with the Project Director to maximise clients margins and deliver to as-sold position as a minimum.
6. Ensure that contract notices are issued in accordance with the prime contract.
7. Ensure the risk register is maintained on a monthly basis or as otherwise agreed with the Project Director. Ensure appropriate management of contingency drawdown or release of contingency to margin.
8. Assist the PD on commercial matters in the monthly clients Project Reviews (WPRs).
Qualifications:
The key requirements for the role are:
1. Proven experience of prime contracts management and close out.
2. Thorough understanding of the nature of risks via proven project experience as they relate to the engineering and construction industry.
3. Able to actively participate in contractual negotiations, underpinned by proven previous experience.
4. Ability to manage potential Client's claims with proven experience.
5. Ability to assess potential contractual/commercial exposure to client in event of project performance issues.
6. Knowledge, understanding and experience of project and business financial reporting.
7. Understanding and knowledge of project and business cost base and basis for project gross margin, business profit.
8. Previous experience working with Middle East based clients is preferable.
9. Previous experience of working under NEC type contract is preferable.
10. A degree and preferably chartered status.
