Description About the job. National Highways have an exciting opportunity for a Pavement Engineer to join our Pavements team in the East region. The Pavement Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary role within the Pavement team which will include assisting with the development and delivery of a wide range of pavement renewal schemes, to ensure that the strategic road network (SRN) safely meets the requirements of our customers now and into the future. The Pavement Engineer will work closely with key stakeholders including project teams and third parties and assist with coordinating works across the region, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to our defined asset class strategies, policies and standards. Please note that may be required to work unsociable hours as part of this role. You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full driving licence, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position. Ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity Undertake the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria. Develop early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs. Monitor the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues. Assists with developing the Region’s asset led forward programme and initial scheme development Delivers customer centric designs and technical specifications. About you. A Degree / HND or HNC in a Civil Engineering or similar Membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE/CIHT/IHE is desirable Knowledge of asset condition assessment and degradation modelling Excellent knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highway network. Experience in highway infrastructure design, construction and delivery methods. About us.
