Contract: Permanent, 37 hrs per week (all year)
Salary: NJC Pay Scale PO1-PO2 £37,336 - £43,421

About This Role
Established in 2014, The Black Pear Trust is a family of eight schools in Worcestershire and Herefordshire. We serve children from 2 to 18 and employ around 400 colleagues in a variety of roles. We seek an experienced and enthusiastic HR Manager to oversee and lead our HR function in order to develop and enhance our people strategy and day-to-day HR operations.
In this exciting new role, you will manage our HR function, from recruitment and employee relations to policy development and compliance. You will be responsible for implementing our People strategies and fostering a positive work environment across our Trust. You should have a strong background in HR management, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of employment laws and regulations.
You will be someone who can work and influence at all levels, forming positive working relationships with Executive and school leaders and the wider Trust community. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic:
1. Develop and implement the People Strategy
2. Provide guidance and strategic advice to the COO, CEO and Senior Leaders on all HR matters
3. Support and enhance the Trust’s commitment to being an ‘Employer of Choice’
4. Work with other leaders to ensure high standard staff training
5. Support the proactive management of talent pools and succession plans
6. Monitor and update policies and procedures as required
7. Build effective working relationships with key partners
Operational:
1. Ensure the Trust operates a legally robust procedural framework with supporting HR policies
2. Lead all Trust recruitment activity, ensuring effective safer recruitment checks
3. Provide support and guidance on HR-related issues
4. Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement
5. Manage HR records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
6. Advise on employment law and ensure policies are up-to-date
7. Maintain compliant Trust HR policies and ensure regular reviews
8. Ensure compliance with equality legislation
9. Lead on casework and employee relations
10. Work with the COO to improve HR systems and processes
11. Oversee induction procedures and develop colleague handbooks
12. Provide HR reports to the COO for presentation to the Board of Trustees
13. Manage Trust documentation relating to HR
14. Provide HR input into Trust projects and organisational changes
15. Ensure accurate HR record keeping
16. Oversee completion and submission of Statutory personnel returns
17. Ensure documentation meets GDPR requirements
General
1. Attend meetings within the Trust and external events as required
2. Maintain a presence in national professional networks
3. Ensure all colleagues participate in training, induction, and staff development events
4. Implement training to promote understanding of Trust HR matters
5. Comply with the Trust’s Code of Practice on equality and diversity
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Trustees, COO, and CEO.
