The opportunity
We’re seeking an HR Case Advisor to work with our team of generalist HR Business Partners and be part of a wider Case Advisor team, providing proactive employee relations case support. You’ll work with our people managers to address issues across the business, spotting trends and sharing knowledge on individual cases to ensure best practice is developed and used.
We value continuous improvement, so will encourage your feedback on processes, procedures and ‘lessons learned’ in order to improve our delivery of stakeholder support. You’ll proactively drive interventions with people managers to address identified people issues across the business, as well as spotting trends and making recommendations to the wider HR team. There will also be liaison with key functions such as legal and local trade union representatives regarding people issues.

What you will be doing
The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Providing proactive, professional HR advice and guidance
- Building effective working relationships with your stakeholders across the business, including Trade Union representatives, you will provide timely advice and guidance on a wide range of HR practices
- Both verbally and in written format, assisting managers across the business, aiding them in their understanding and implementation of our policies in relation to your employment case portfolio
- Assisting managers in informal and formal case meetings, including providing information and HR advice from initiation to resolution and escalating cases where appropriate
- Collaborating with managers and collating the required documentation to formulate hearing packs, or signposting managers to the correct templates and policies
- Attending formal case meetings, you will be responsible for taking appropriate notes and preparing relevant outcome documentation (case hearings may take place within a reasonable location)
- Maintaining up to date records and suggesting improvements, you will be proactive in your approach, presenting options for the manager to enact, providing feedback where applicable
- Utilising technology to track progress as well as record and maintain accurate case records which are accessible to those involved in the case
- Where there are points and elements of cases which increase risk to the individual and business, you will discuss appropriate action with the HR Business Partner Team and/or Employee Relations team providing early insight and offering options
- Briefing the HR team on the status of cases and approach being taken
- Supporting the wider community, you will provide valuable feedback and insight from your case work to enrich the data used in workshops, training, coaching and guidance to support development and growth

Who you are
Ideally you will be CIPD level 3 qualified and above, or working towards, or have demonstrable generalist HR experience. Previous experience in an HR or employee relations role with a good up to date understanding of employment law is important. If you’re looking for the next challenge early on in your HR career and employee relations is of interest, then we are also able to consider supporting you with training and development for the role. You should have the ability to interpret data, utilise dashboards to identify trends and maintain and monitor HR systems, all whilst ensuring the accuracy of data.
You’ll need experience working with a broad range of stakeholders such as senior leaders and trade union representatives, with good written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail is paramount, with strong organisation skills and the ability to form strong, productive relationships with a wider team, in this case the HR function.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
