The Senior Project Manager (Construction) is responsible for the effective shaping, planning and delivery of large-scale, capital construction projects which are high-risk, high-cost and high-profile.
Responsibilities
Application of their specialist technical, professional knowledge and experience to deliver these projects effectively on behalf of the council.
Successfully shapes, plans and delivers projects on time, to budget and to the desired outcome through the effective application of the most appropriate project management methodology.
Develops and maintains and detailed project plan, dealing with complex internal and external dependencies effectively. Uses the plan collaboratively to drive, monitor and report on progress and to forecast timescales, completion, resources and costs effectively.
Identifies the skills and resources needed to deliver the project successfully. Builds the internal team and works with internal specialists to procure or commission appropriate external input to support delivery.
Provides leadership to the project team, enabling them to successfully deliver the work for which they are responsible. Achieves this through ongoing supervision, support and guidance.
Actively manages risk through effective analysis, mitigation and contingency planning.
