We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated static Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Elective Orthopaedic Therapy Team at the Trafford Surgical Elective Hub.
If you are a highly skilled and enthusiastic HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with previous experience in Orthopaedics, this is the ideal role for you to expand your expertise in a fast-paced, collaborative, and rewarding environment.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be working with elective orthopaedic patients in a number of settings, including Day Surgery, In-patients, and Out-patients (Joint Replacement Education Group). You will apply your specialist skills and clinical knowledge to optimise patient outcomes, while demonstrating exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that reflect the values of our Trust.

Main duties of the job
You will be part of a supportive and innovative team consisting of experienced Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Rehabilitation Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and competencies within this specialist clinical area. Our collaborative environment encourages CPD, with a focus on clinical expertise, teaching, leadership, and service development. You will be provided with mentorship and regular supervision, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the evaluation and advancement of our services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the 7 day and twilight service.
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
* Complete pre-operative assessments.
* Use advanced assessment, treatment, and discharge planning skills to optimise patient outcomes.
* Contribute to the development of services by identifying areas for improvement and driving service innovation.
* Supervise and support junior staff and students, fostering a learning environment and sharing your knowledge.
* Participate in clinical and non-clinical skill development through CPD, with regular opportunities for supervision and peer support.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* Recognised BSC Honours degree in occupational therapy or equivalent.
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council.
* Registered member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy.
Knowledge and experience
* Postgraduate NHS clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post.
* Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and treatment techniques.
* Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, College of Occupational Therapists/Health and Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
* Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working.
* Experience of supervision of students and assistants.
* Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants.
* Previous experience at this level.
* Evidence of participation in research.
* To have attended a clinical educators course.
