Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Pastoral Curriculum & Sustainability
Leadership pay range L12 – L22 (Fringe)

Oakwood School is a rapidly improving 11 – 16 secondary school in Horley who are seeking a dynamic, highly strategic and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to join our vastly experienced Senior Leadership Team. This is a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will lead on key areas including the Pastoral Curriculum, Sustainability, Post 16 academic transition, and more. You will have the opportunity to drive whole school initiatives and contribute to the extended school provision, A.I. development, and student leadership. The role would suit an existing Senior Leader seeking a new challenge or an experienced Middle Leader looking to make the step up into Senior Leadership.
First and foremost, we are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner who has an excellent track record of improving academic standards and pupil outcomes, as well as having a clear focus on pastoral development and safeguarding. You must be willing to undergo training to help you develop into an exceptional Senior Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the Pastoral Curriculum & Sustainability
* Lead the development of Post 16 academic transition for more able students
* Coordinate whole school challenge directives
* Manage Extended School provision
* Promote Independent Learning and oversee Extra-Curricular activities
* Oversee the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme
* Line manage the Head of Faculty in the development of the Personal Development programme PSHCE, including RSHE
* Provide strategic oversight of cultural capital, tutor time, and assembly themes
* Manage sustainability initiatives, liaising with The School Business Manager
* Develop College/FE links and destination measures
* Line Manage the Careers Lead and manage the School Prefect Team and student leadership initiatives
The successful applicant will have the following qualities:
* Relevant leadership and management experience in a school to at least Middle Leadership level
* An enthusiastic and hardworking team player
* Ability to achieve high levels of student engagement and progress
* Inspirational with the ability to motivate and inspire students and staff
* Meet challenges with a good sense of humour
