Our Apprenticeships are site based and can take up to three and a half years to complete. Apprentices work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Composites and an end point assessment. You will be trained in all aspects of the manufacturing processes within our factory. There will also be the opportunity to develop skills within our quality department. In year 1 of your apprenticeship, you will be at college full time where you will start your basic training and technical certificate. In year 2 you will complete your technical certificate at college on day release whilst rotating around all production departments in the factory. You will then complete the final year of your apprenticeship in your home department to achieve your final qualification which will lead to completion of your end point assessment which will be both practical and theoretical assessment by an external assessor. During your placement, you will be allocated a mentor who will support you through your apprenticeship. You will be supported with monthly performance reviews, 12 weekly academic reviews and yearly target setting to ensure your apprenticeship is a success. Your day-to-day duties will typically include: Adherence to all health and safety requirements for yourself and those around you. Good organisational skills and the ability to use the correct materials, tools and equipment. Plan and lay out work, following strict engineering specifications and quality standards. Preparing materials to specified production orders ensuring availability for our production teams. Prepare molds, mandrels and materials before the packing process begins. Blade manufacture through our blade building process which includes hand laying of fibreglass, balsa wood and various pre-cast components. Follow the casting infusion process ensuring engineering standards and quality requirements are adhered to. Carry out grinding, sanding, and filling of the blade in accordance with quality repair plan. This will include the use of fiberglass and epoxy resin to carry out specified repairs. Carry out surface preparation and blade painting using specialist tooling. Final preparation of the blade to ensure full compliance to our customer specifications. Working within our Quality department throughout the full blade building process to ensure customer expectations are met. Completion of all academic assignments within agreed timescale which will be reviewed on a regular basis. Supporting STEM activities including work experience, volunteering and attendance at recruitment events. What you need to make a difference GCSE Grade 4 or above in Maths and English or equivalent. ICT Level 2 is advantageous. Due to health and safety requirements candidates must be a minimum age of 17 at the start of the apprenticeship. The right commitment and enthusiasm for a career in a leading-edge engineering environment is critical. In addition, the following skills are required: Possess a strong commitment and enthusiasm to the role and the apprenticeship. Good verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated and can work comfortably as an individual or in a team. Good manual skills. Experience of common Microsoft packages and good IT skills. Strong interest in manufacturing and technology. Selecting appropriate techniques, procedures and methods in manufacturing. Reading and understanding drawings and work instructions. A desire to operate machinery associated with manufacturing. Application of problem solving and continuous improvement tools.
