The Sales Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise throughout the sales process for the Allye MAX for both mobile power and on-grid applications. You will work collaboratively with the sales team to support inbound enquiries and outbound lead generation, offering deep technical guidance to customers. You will serve as the technical bridge between Allye's products and customer requirements, ensuring optimal solutions are designed and proposed.
You will be responsible for the technical aspects of the sales cycle from initial interest through to installation and commissioning. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to assess technical feasibility, conduct site surveys, analyze usage and tariff data, and coordinate activities relating to G99 applications, electrical installation, and commissioning by engaging with installers and DNOs. Your strong technical background and understanding of the G99/G100 process is essential for this role.
You will be highly analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable translating technical specifications into customer benefits in an early-stage business where the technical sales approach is still evolving. You will be comfortable developing technical documentation, creating solution architectures, and refining technical processes as part of your role.
As a strong technical communicator, you will be comfortable explaining complex energy storage solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a multi-faceted role which requires comprehensive technical knowledge of Allye's energy systems and strong understanding of the technical requirements in the commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage market. This is a UK and Ireland focused role initially but has significant potential to grow into a global technical sales role for the right person.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle to support customer acquisition
* Conduct technical discovery calls, site surveys, and system sizing for potential customers
* Create and present technical proposals and specifications for the Allye MAX system
* Lead the technical aspects of G99 applications and installation planning
* Analyze customer energy usage and tariff data to model system performance
* Develop customized technical solutions that meet specific customer requirements
* Create and maintain technical documentation for sales proposals
* Provide technical training and support to the sales team
* Collaborate with product development to provide market feedback on technical features
* Represent Allye's technical capabilities at industry events and trade shows
* Stay current on industry standards, grid requirements, and competitive technologies
Must haves
* Engineering degree in Electrical, Power Systems, or related field
* At least 3 years' experience in technical sales or pre-sales engineering
* Strong understanding of power systems and G99/G100 requirements for BESS
* Experience with energy modeling software and technical calculations
* Demonstrated experience in technical specification and system design
* Proficiency in analyzing energy usage data and creating technical proposals
* Good knowledge of battery energy storage, Grid-scale and C&I markets
* Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information clearly
* Experience with on-site technical assessments and installation planning
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
* Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
* Effective in a highly collaborative yet informally structured work environment
* Self-directing, ability to manage technical aspects of multiple projects
* Able to travel in UK and international on occasion
Nice to have
* A second European language, Spanish and German preferred
* Experience with renewable technologies integration, such as PV, wind and/or storage
* Experience from automotive, the battery industry or related technology startup
* Professional engineering qualification or certification
* Experience with DNO/DSO G99 application processes
