We are seeking a Building Safety Technicians to join our Property Safety team. In this role, you will provide vital technical support in relation to building safety compliance, particularly focused on fire safety assessments and remedial actions. You will assist in implementing building safety measures and ensuring adherence to regulations. Requirements Key responsibilities of the Building Safety Technician include Inspect fire doors in both communal areas and individual flats to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and carry out minor repairs such as replacing strips, seals, hinges, and adjusting door closers. Provide support to the Compliance team by assisting in the preparation of information for self-audits to help fulfil the organisation’s obligations. Test fire safety systems in accordance with regulatory standards and flush communal water systems to maintain compliance. Confirm the operational functionality of LD1 systems at relevant locations, ensuring they are in good working order. Conduct spot checks on compliance-related tasks carried out by contractors in preparation for internal audits. Install and maintain fire safety equipment such as door guards to prevent the spread of fire. Perform regular inspections of communal areas and community centres, identifying and reporting any issues found. Test and reset fire alarm systems and emergency lighting, ensuring accurate records are kept of all activities undertaken. Install and test smoke alarms when required. Conduct follow-up inspections on compliance-related tasks to verify standards are being maintained. Monitor the contents of the Red Box in communal areas, ensuring information is up-to-date, and report any missing items to the appropriate housing officer. Carry out regular asbestos inspections in communal areas and ensure fire extinguishers are up to date and in good condition. Undertake minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs and fixing door handles. Inspect fire doors for legal compliance, recommending corrective actions or urgent repairs for non-compliant or malfunctioning doors. Prioritise repairs based on safety risks identified during inspections. Manage tools and equipment for fire door assessments, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and safe use in line with Health and Safety regulations. Prepare and maintain thorough inspection reports, documenting findings and corrective actions taken. We are looking for someone who has A good understanding of building safety regulations, particularly around fire safety. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively. Technical aptitude and proficiency in using IT systems, including MS Office applications. A Full UK Driving Licence.
