As a Mechanical Fitter/Rigger, you'll be responsible for essential mechanical duties and supporting rigging operations using certified techniques, playing a key role in maintaining safety and efficiency across the site.\n\nPerson Specification\n\nYou are a self-motivated and skilled mechanical fitter with strong rigging experience, qualified to ECITB Level 2 or Level 3 standards.
You bring practical knowledge of using mechanical tools such as hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. Comfortable working with technical drawings and operating in safety-critical environments, you contribute to lifting operations and machinery installation with care and precision. Your understanding of UK safety regulations ensures you work effectively within a team and maintain the highest safety standards on site.\n\nJob Duties\n\nConduct maintenance, disassembly, and assembly of MIV, turbine, and generator components.\nSupport and carry out rigging operations.\nSelect, inspect, and safely use lifting gear and rigging equipment for various loads.\nPerform load assessments and determine appropriate rigging methods based on weight, shape, and lift points.\nSignal and direct crane or lifting operations using hand signals or radio communication in coordination with lifting teams.\nUse and maintain a range of mechanical tools and equipment, including hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels.\nIdentify and resolve mechanical faults to restore equipment to working condition.\nInterpret and follow engineering drawings, lifting plans, and assembly instructions.\nAssist with the installation, alignment, commissioning, and surface protection of mechanical systems.\nMaintain a clean and organised work area and ensure all rigging operations follow site safety rules and lifting regulations.\nComply with UK safety regulations and all project-specific health and safety procedures.
\n\nRequirements\n\nEssential:\n\nNVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Installation, or equivalent\nECITB Level 2 or Level 3 Rigger certification (or equivalent)\nProven experience in rigging within an industrial or heavy mechanical environment\nStrong background in mechanical fitting, including maintenance and assembly work\nAbility to interpret technical drawings and schematics\nKnowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems\nBasic understanding of electrical components relevant to mechanical installations\nSuitable safety training and certification, e.g., CSCS card or equivalent\nSelf-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team\nStrong awareness of health and safety regulations and on-site procedures \n\nDesirable:\n\nMJI certification (Mechanical Joint Integrity)\nExperience working on turbines, generators, or hydro-related equipment\nExperience in confined space working or working at height \n\nThis role offers a unique opportunity to contribute your rigging and mechanical expertise on a major infrastructure project with a leading engineering firm.
