Position Description
Due to continued growth and company expansion, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD Engineer to work in the data centre engineering department at Airedale by Modine. The role involves working closely with a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineers to design and develop bespoke cooling products for the data centre market, from concept through to production manufacture whilst maintaining the existing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
1. Working as part of a team to develop new products for Airedale’s cloud division.
2. Producing drawings adhering to company, departmental, and industry standards.
3. Creating 3D models, layout drawings, and designing pipe-work.
4. Creating sheet metal manufacturing drawings of folded parts and assembly drawings.
5. Working to deadlines and cost requirements.
6. Designing products with manufacturing and assembly in mind, allowing labour targets to be met.
7. Structuring Bills of Material.
8. Sourcing appropriate furnishings and casework fittings.
Required Education & Qualifications
1. Experience of MS Word and Excel are essential.
2. HNC or Degree qualified in an Engineering or Science-based subject.
3. Previous product design experience.
4. Sheet metal design experience.
5. Sheet metal manufacturing experience preferred.
6. Mechanical engineering knowledge would be an advantage.
7. Ability to use their own initiative.
8. Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ideally, experience of the following software:
1. Solid Edge ST9 and later.
2. Radan 2D CAD/CAM.
3. AutoCAD 2D.
4. SAP.
Although a high base level of CAD knowledge is expected, training will be provided for the right applicant to develop the skills and knowledge required for the position.
