Procurement Category Manager - Indirects
Location: Reading - 2 days a week - 5 minutes from Reading station
Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 | 20% bonus | healthcare | Pension | + further benefits
This is one of a few new roles working for a really interesting UK brand who are transforming the way businesses and people communicate with each other. After a recently appointed Procurement Director has joined to build a strategic procurement function in order to support the company's ambitious growth plans.
This role will support the Procurement Director and Senior Category Managers across all areas of spend from a strategic approach. Some examples of what this person will likely be involved in are: Networks, Field Services, Marketing, HR, Technology, Utilities, FM, and Professional Services.
Role and Responsibilities:
* Reporting into the Procurement Director who has joined the business to transform and grow the procurement team.
* Create relevant category strategies through to delivery and performance including year-on-year annualised savings.
* Lead and manage a more junior member of the team.
* Develop category plans and strategies to ensure alignment for the group, leveraging suppliers to support local offices.
* Support the development of category strategies to a clear and prioritised pipeline of sourcing projects.
* Engage, manage, and influence senior stakeholders from Director to Board level to ensure buy-in, utilising strong market knowledge.
* Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a rounded knowledge of suppliers' performance.
* Monitor supplier risk and performance through reporting tools and business feedback.
* On top of delivering strategic projects, ensure the business is getting the best service in line with cost efficiency.
Experience and Requirements:
* Proven category management experience across a wide range of Indirect Categories.
* Experience working for a fast-paced and growing business, with the ability to adapt to change.
* Ability to engage, negotiate, and influence senior stakeholders up to Director level.
* Strong stakeholder management, using different approaches to type, level, and maturity of relationship.
* Analytical mindset and strong communication skills to present ideas to the business.
* Experience working in a large and cross-functional procurement team.
* MCIPS qualification is nice to have but not essential.
