An opportunity has arisen to join a highly regarded ENT service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, a specialist tertiary centre for a range of conditions including Head & Neck Cancer, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Vascular and Plastics, as well as being a Major Trauma Centre.
Services are provided across Royal Preston and Chorley District & General Hospital which is home to one of the first GIRFT accredited Elective Surgical Hubs in the country.

Main duties of the job
* Work in close collaboration as a member of the Skull Base Team and ENT Team.
* Manage audio vestibular services, including balance and tinnitus.
* Provide neurosurgical input as required.
* Support the provision of an ENT service to the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
* Teach and train junior staff, including Specialty Trainees and Foundation Doctors.
* Ensure continuous patient care, making adequate arrangements for cover during off-duty periods.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care.
* Develop close links with General Practitioners in the area.
* Develop specialist elements of the service within specified resources.
* Undertake administrative duties related to patient care.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT or CESR (CP)
* An appropriate higher ENT surgical qualification
* Higher Medical Degree (MD or MSc)
* Publications
* Training Experience
Experience and Skills
* Higher surgical training in ENT within a recognised programme
* Wide experience of general ENT
* Experience working within an ENT department and NHS systems
* Experience in Otology
* Interest and training in Otology and Lateral Skull Base Surgery
Management
* Evidence of Clinical Leadership
* Commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development
* Management course/certification
Research & Development
* Interest in personal development through research/publications
* Understanding of research methodology and ethics
* Evidence of peer-reviewed publications
Health
* Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards.

* Effective communication skills

* Resident within 30/45 minutes travel time to Preston
