The role of Global Senior Laboratory Technician will involve leading a small team of laboratory technicians and collaborating with scientists and engineers from our Technology and Innovation (T&I) group responding efficiently to analysis requests to satisfy our customer needs. The successful candidate will have operational experience in a wide variety of analytical techniques, excellent laboratory safety records, ability to resolve complex problems and a willingness to continuously improve their skillset and knowledge. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Responsibility for day-to-day operation of global laboratories and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Project manage multiple laboratory requests from T & I group in a safe and timely manner. Documents observations, analyses, and interpretation of results, including technical reports of a high quality Review/upgrade standard operating procedures for laboratories, identifying continuous improvements. Maintenance of calibration and service contract records for all global laboratory equipment. Collaborate with global application developers and assist with scientific and technological investigations for new product development projects and plant trials. Take guidance from technical service representatives on scientific investigations to assist with customer related complaints/queries. Provide scientific assistance to global film assets and global quality control laboratories where necessary. Key Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Educated in a science discipline, preferable chemistry, or material science and experience (preferably 5 years) in an analytical laboratory environment. Good operational knowledge of a range of scientific techniques including mechanical, thermal, and spectroscopy testing. Knowledge of microscopy and surface metrology techniques is preferred. Ability to deploy scientific skills, with a mix of practical and analytical approaches to deliver high quality results for all laboratory requests. A team player with independent working capability. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and provide written reports of high quality. Self-motivated and results driven with excellent attention to detail. Willingness to continuously improve their skillset and knowledge. A strong safety focus both within their own work and that of others. Experience of managing people is preferred, but not essential.
