User Researcher – Role Overview
Our new User Researcher role sits within the VOA’s Strategic Insight Team. This team is within Research and Analysis which is a diverse multi-disciplinary unit, part of the VOA’s Information, Data and Analysis directorate.
The team are responsible for gathering insights on our customers and using these to gain a deeper understanding of our service to customers and their experience of interacting with the agency. From this, they are responsible for identifying key business issues and opportunities to improve the customer and user experience.
As a User Researcher, you’ll bring experience to support the improvement and development of our live services. This is a new and exciting role for the team, and you’ll play a key role in supporting a key strategic objective for VOA, delivering excellent customer experience. You will ensure that our services are easy to use. You’ll have the opportunity to plan, design and conduct user research activities for the VOA’s live guidance and services across a variety of services, channels and with diverse user groups.
This is a unique opportunity as you’ll be working outside of an agile working environment, working to understand our live guidance and services and collaborating with different stakeholders to make changes to current processes and products.
User Researcher – Key responsibilities
* Lead on planning, recruiting and conducting user research, including playing back user research to stakeholders and teams.
* Understanding the problem then aligning user research activities to influence and support decision making.
* Applying a range of techniques to analyse and synthesise user research insights, creating research outputs in an actionable way.
* Advocate for and include all kinds of users in appropriate research activities to help teams design accessible services for all users.
* Engage in a community of user researchers, contributing to areas of development.
* Participate in HMRC’s cross-government research and conferences.
* Working with the Service Manual and/or GOV.UK standards and working practices.
