GTS Group have an exciting green-field role for an exciting engineering business in East Birmingham.
The Role: As the Manufacturing Manager, you will be reporting into the COO and be responsible for establishing and leading our client's manufacturing function, ensuring smooth operations, efficiency, and adherence to the highest industry standards. This role requires someone with a strong background in electrical systems manufacturing and team management, who can not only oversee production but also drive continuous improvement in processes and quality.
Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Manager :
* Set-Up & Implementation: Lead the set-up of the manufacturing facility, including equipment selection, layout planning, and production workflow optimization.
* Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a skilled production team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
* Production Management: Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring production targets are met, on-time delivery, and quality standards are adhered to and reported back to the SLT
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure the manufacturing operation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC, and relevant electrical system manufacturing standards).
* Continuous Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing principles from day one and other efficiency strategies to optimise production output, reduce waste, and drive down costs.
* Quality Control: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure all products meet stringent quality benchmarks and customer expectations.
* Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and promoting best practices.
Key Requirements of the Manufacturing Manager :
* Proven experience in setting up or leading a manufacturing function, preferably in electrical systems or similar industries.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a production team.
* In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S.
* Familiarity with electrical manufacturing standards (IEC, UL, ISO 9001, etc.) and regulatory compliance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on process optimization and efficiency.
* Strong project management skills and ability to oversee the establishment of a new manufacturing operation.
