Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our level 2 North surgical ward team on a Full-time or Part-time basis with the ability to work across Newcastle Private.
Level 2 North has a wide range of specialities including gynaecology, urology, colorectal, paediatrics, and general surgery. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate team player to join our North family. Our nursing staff are known for their nurturing and supportive approach, creating a warm and welcoming environment for both colleagues and patients.
About us
Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses, and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
As a Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include:
* Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
* Deliver evidence-based nursing care
* Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
* Ensure patient and staff safety
* Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to deliver patient care
* Proactively assess the perioperative nursing care provided to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual/patient
* Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum of 2 years’ relevant post-registration qualifications
* Proven acute ward experience with gynaecology, urology, colorectal, paediatrics, or general surgery
* Demonstrated experience working within an acute surgical setting
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiatives using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
* Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient-centred care;
* Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
* Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills.
* Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Nurses and Midwives' - Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024, a salary ranging from $35.46 - $49.79 per hour.
