Senior Grid Connections Engineer

Eden Scott are proud to be partnering with Brockwell Energy Limited to bring to the market their requirement for a Senior Grid Connections Engineer.

Responsibilities:
1. Be the go-to person for grid capacity availability assessment to inform project origination decisions.
2. Manage the grid connection process from origination to project energisation.
3. Provide grid-related technical design inputs to support the project development process.
4. Lead the grid connection process for renewable energy projects from concept through to commissioning.
5. Conduct network analysis at both distribution and transmission levels to identify potential locations with available capacity.
6. Liaise with DNOs and Grid, preparing, submitting, and reviewing grid connection applications.
7. Provide technical due diligence to grid offers, including optimization of connection solutions, cost assessments, and curtailment evaluations.
8. Keep the company appraised of trends and developments in DNOs and NGESO policies affecting grid connection opportunities.
9. Devise, create, and maintain a database for grid analysis, connection assessments, and capacity analysis.
10. Implement new connection solutions arising from DNOs/NGESO policy changes and industry standards.
11. Provide grid inputs such as substation design, cable routes, cost assessments, and securities for financial modelling.
12. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with DNOs and NGESO design and delivery teams.
13. Manage ICP tender processes including establishing scope of work, reviewing responses, and selecting contractors.
14. Develop and maintain relationships with industry-leading ICPs.
Requirements:
1. Electrical engineering background with relevant degree qualifications or industry experience.
2. 5+ years’ experience in a similar role for a renewable energy developer or DNO.
3. Strong knowledge of the UK utility or renewable energy sectors.
4. Knowledge of requirements for grid code compliance, DNOs/NGESO connection procedures, and administrative authorisations.
5. Ability to explore and understand challenges in the UK Grid Infrastructure.
6. Established network of contacts across DNOs, Grid, and ICP environment.
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
8. Ability to summarise complex problems succinctly.
9. Ability to work full-time in the UK.
10. Knowledge of PowerFactory, DIgSILENT, or similar modelling tools for grid analysis.
11. Competency in design software such as CAD, PVCase, PVSyst, etc.
12. Commercially astute.
13. Valid UK driving license.
