Then read on for details on your perfect role The role: Own and manage the formulation laboratory including safety Drive product innovation/improvement by: Translating consumer sensory and performance data into new formulations Re-engineering product benchmarks to create new formulas based on key properties Be an active participant in the industry by creating/ further developing networks with raw material suppliers, staying ahead of trends, and a good awareness of new ingredient launch methodologies Develop an excellent understanding of the manufacturing procedures to ensure that scalability of new formulations is feasible Work closely with NPD, marketing and technical/production teams as well as regs to ensure all formulations meet legal and safety standards before launch. Innovate with regulations/ guidelines in mind Perform testing to evaluate the stability, efficacy, and safety of formulations Perform in-vitro testing of formulations to evaluate their characteristics against a brief Create prototypes with a variety of product sensory and performance characteristics Work with contract manufacturers to take final formulas to production The Company: Expanding start-up with innovation at its core Passionate about developing new methods of product development within the colour cosmetics space Using technology to customise offers in the cosmetics industry The requirements: BSc or equivalent in relevant subject, such as Chemistry or Cosmetic Science Proven experience of successfully taking innovations from concept to launch within colour cosmetics and/or skincare categories At least 3 years of experience in cosmetic formulation, ideally but not necessarily including colour cosmetics and across various product formats. Strong technical knowledge of cosmetic chemistry and raw materials within cosmetics Ability to create a variety of product sensory and performance characteristics Preferably experience in in-vitro testing of formulations to evaluate their characteristics against a brief Familiarity with cosmetic safety regulations and compliance (FDA, REACH, etc.).
