City Services are currently recruiting an additional Grounds Operative - Tractor Driver for the Central District.
The Central District is complemented by some wonderful green spaces including Southampton Common and Central Parks, and have busy and high profile retail districts. We are seeking candidates who take pride and personal responsibility in their work and enjoy working within a team.
The Grounds Operative - Tractor Driver is responsible for utilizing a variety of tractor mounted equipment to maintain the open spaces within the district including parks, highway and housing areas, keeping them clean and tidy to help deliver the outcome 'Southampton is an attractive and modern city, where people are proud to live and work'.
About the role:
In this role you will be responsible for:
1. Working with the team and Working Supervisors to ensure relevant works are carried out to the expected standards, providing hands on help with a range of tasks.
2. Ensuring day to day operational resources are in place to effectively undertake agreed work programmes to the expected standards.
3. Ensuring all work adheres to statutory Health and Safety Regulations and expected standards.
4. You will be responsible for the security, correct usage and care of all vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment, completing written records of a routine nature, including Time Sheets, Vehicle Log Sheets etc. as required.
5. Promptly rectifying or reporting all defects, losses, damage, accidents, hazards and near misses to the Working Supervisor or any other designated person supervising the area of works.
6. The post holder will, from time to time when tractor driver duties are not required or possible, be expected to carry out other duties such as working with the team on grounds maintenance duties.
You will work a regular shift pattern from Monday to Thursday, from 7.30am until 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm.
This permanent full time contract falls within Grade 6 of the Southampton City Council’s pay grades. Any additional hours worked are subject to overtime rates.
