Position:
Reporting to RLC Director of Planning & Supply Chain, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible and accountable for delivering all aspects of RLC sourcing requirements and supplier compliance with regulations and industry standards in line with the business needs and RLC Supply Chain Strategies.
This role plays a key role in forging effective relationships internally, in the external supply chain and across the aerospace industry in general.
Whilst the role is based in Altham, regular travel to other RLC sites and suppliers is required.
Requirements:
Own, manage and implement the supply chain sourcing and commercial solutions from supplier selection, tendering process, commercial and contract negotiation through to contract award & implementation and order placement.
1. Responsible to implement supplier and commodity strategies which drive sustainable improvements in overall supply chain performance.
2. Accountable for supplier assessments, supplier development, supplier business continuity plans and suppliers complying with the government regulations, industrial standards, export control and ITAR requirements.
3. Responsible to ensure procurement costs are controlled and opportunities for savings are identified & implemented.
4. Deliver sourcing project portfolio aligning to relevant sourcing plans of record and our business and supply chain metrics (e.g. return on investment, savings, schedule).
Accountable to establish early, new supplier involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost.
1. Develop innovative solutions to rationalise the supplier base identifying preferred sources of supply and introducing new sources of supply where applicable.
2. Accountable to gather market intelligence and trends for the commodity, identify risks & opportunities within the commodity and works closely with stakeholders to eliminate or take mitigating actions for strategic risks.
3. Ensure adherence to functional processes and procedures and at all times ensure own compliance to RLC Code of Conduct, Ethics and Business Conduct Policy, and health & safety practices.
4. Assist in other areas or perform other duties as assigned to support the business needs.
5. Accountable for the commercial and supplier compliance framework in which the suppliers will operate, ensuring cost competitiveness, cost avoidance, value improvement and sustainable procurement are achieved.
6. Responsible for resolving commercial and compliance issues arising within the supply chain.
7. Supplier management. Responsible for optimal balance between collaborative engagement with the suppliers and competitive pressure to ensure maximum value is realised.
8. Responsible for maintaining strong working relationships and close-collaboration with key stakeholders to successfully execute programme and sourcing requirements (e.g. Business Development, Programme, Planning & Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Operations, Quality & IT).
9. Lead sourcing engagement with internal and external stakeholders from project kick-off through contract implementation, while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, savings results and relevant return on investment.
10. Accountable to provide support to the Business Development and Programme team in fronting any potential new opportunities where Supply Chain engagement is required.
Qualifications
Degree qualified or relevant professional certification within Supply Chain Management (CIPS).
Experience
Minimum 8 years’ hands-on experience with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, commercial negotiation, contractual terms & conditions negotiation and contract formation in a manufacturing environment.
Must have extensive commodity management and supplier relationship management experience.
Must have a proven track record of timely meeting targets & tight deadlines.
Experience working successfully with international businesses and understanding the intricacies and nuances of various cultures and countries.
Knowledge & Skills
Very good understanding & knowledge of legal aspects of procurement contracts.
Extensive knowledge of structured, high stakes negotiation practices, contract formation and terms and conditions. Strong commercial acumen.
Strong negotiation, interpersonal, influencing & problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills at all levels. Excellent numerical reasoning and analytical skills.
Understanding of supply chain management, business operations & processes within a manufacturing environment. Financially astute.
Working knowledge of using Microsoft suite and ERP system.
Awareness of Aerospace standards & regulations. Understand green supply chain requirements and good practices.
