You will be joining a motivated, supportive, and friendly team who work across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, with a proven track record of internal career promotion to senior roles. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work under pressure as an individual and as part of the wider team.
You will work as an autonomous practitioner using evidence-based practice to formulate and deliver individualised treatment plans for patients in community clinical and secondary outpatient settings as well as in people's homes.
You will apply appropriate clinical reasoning to manage a varied caseload consisting of high risk, diabetes, wound care and biomechanics patients. You will work alongside experienced podiatrists and be encouraged in your professional development, having access to regular 1:1's and clinical supervision. You will participate in rotations for nail surgery, specialist diabetes foot care MDT clinics, and biomechanics.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a high standard of podiatric care to maintain tissue viability, mobility, and independence for high-risk patients or those who have an acute infection. This will be delivered through assessment, diagnosis, and development of care plans, including specialist care plans for patients with specialist care needs such as acute and chronic neuropathies, vascular, neurological, tissue viability and wound care management, diabetes, musculoskeletal and rheumatological problems.
2. To be responsible, as a senior practitioner, for prioritising/supervising own workload.
3. To be responsible for supporting/mentoring junior staff/students/apprentices.
4. Organise and forward plan the day-to-day running of your podiatry clinics, domiciliary sessions, assessing new patients, and being a point of contact for any issues or problems arising with the Podiatry Service (clinical/admin).
5. To be responsible for triaging of referrals and re-directing, where appropriate, following relevant pathways.
6. To contribute to multi-disciplinary care by discussing own and others' input around patient's needs, ensuring a well-co-ordinated care plan, agreeing shared decision making on individual patient management.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and HCPC registration.
* Certificate of Local Anaesthesia.
* Evidence of specialised post graduate development.
Skills and Experience
* Experience of managing a high risk caseload and varied workload.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to assess, formulate and implement treatment plans.
* Experience of using Dopplers and undertaking neurological tests.
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to change.
* Ability to provide health education.
* Understanding of clinical governance.
* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Experience of delivering training to other health professionals and service users.
