We are recruiting a part-time Research Technician within the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, in the BHF Manchester Centre of Research Excellence, Cardiovascular Genomics and Development Theme. The post will support a range of research activities in the field of cardiovascular medicine and be responsible for maintaining human tissue biobanks at the University. The successful candidate will be practical, organized and independent, with excellent communication skills. The individual will also be responsible for scheduled maintenance of equipment, record keeping, preparation of COSHH risk assessment forms, keeping laboratory stocks in place and ensuring the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety regulation (in particular the Human Tissue Act) and Good Laboratory Practice is essential. Experience of the University procedures and regulations, as well as standard laboratory techniques (e.g., PCR, RNA/DNA extraction) would be beneficial. This job is based at the University of Manchester campus on Oxford Road, and some travel is required between tissue collection sites. The position is available for 3 years in the first instance at £31,637-£33,482 (dependent on relevant experience), with a view to extending the post if successful.
