Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of specialist professional advice and leadership on prescribing and pharmaceutical issues to DPHC Region whilst ensuring compliance with Medicine Legislation and congruence with the governance framework.
Additionally, you will be responsible for, in liaison with the Head Quarters (HQ) DPHC Pharmacist, the provision of support to and co-ordination of Medical Centres within the DPHC Region to ensure the delivery, within a medicines management framework, of a legal, safe, cost-effective and efficient high-quality pharmaceutical service.
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
* Working closely with DPHC HQ Pharmacist and other Regional Pharmacists in all matters relating to Medicine Management and Pharmaceutical care using information gathered from DPHC Region, contributing to the development of DPHC Medicine Management strategy, policy and processes and the resolution of DPHC Medicine Management issues.
* Supporting the identification of DPHC pharmaceutical and Medicines Management needs, through the analysis and interpretation of data submitted by Medical Centres, Headquarters colleagues and other information resources, and the comparison of a range of options for delivery of effective pharmaceutical provision.
* Establishing and maintaining good channels of communication with appropriate Medical Centre and secondary care staff, NHS organisations within DPHC Region and neighbouring sectors in order to support patients receiving cost-effective medication in a timely and consistent manner.
* Generating, monitoring, analysing and preparing regional reports from ePACT (electronic Prescribing Analysis and Cost Tool) data which illustrate prescribing patterns and use to influence prescribers to adopt cost-effective prescribing which reflects the tri-Service formulary, local and national guidance.

This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Band 8a Regional Pharmacist in the DPHC (SW). Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due to a short-term gap in Military workforce. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 01/06/2027.
