Research & Development
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Nurse to establish and lead Advanced Therapies Research Trials at ARI. This exciting new role supports and develops a portfolio of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) clinical trials across different disease specialties. Cell and gene therapies continue to be developed for the treatment of some cancers, degenerative, genetic, and immune disorders. These advanced therapies harness the power of cells and genes, often involving specific manufacture of products for individual patients, potentially offering cures where an unmet medical need exists. They can restore normal function where this cannot be repaired by natural healing or surgery and require new ways of working by the NHS.
The post holder will be responsible for developing the required oversight committees and compliance for ATMP research to ensure adherence to research legislation, policy, and guidelines. The post holder will also engage strongly with the ATTC network and be part of their UK-wide work to facilitate the advancement of ATMP research in the UK.
This position is particularly suitable for an experienced research nurse keen to apply their knowledge of clinical trials and clinical expertise across multiple service and research departments, acting as the coordinating function to develop this work. There will also be opportunities for the development of leadership skills.
In addition to being directly involved in ATMP clinical trials, the post holder will lead the day-to-day coordination of a dedicated and motivated team of clinical research nurses. The research portfolio in NHS Grampian has grown over recent years, and this role will be pivotal in supporting this expanding portfolio. The post will involve working closely with the Senior CRN team within NHSG to ensure studies in the research portfolio are supported and to improve patient recruitment into trials. The post holder will ensure adherence to research legislation, policy, and guidelines and facilitate continuing improvements in the care of research participants and the quality of research data collected. Other responsibilities include deputizing for the Lead Research Nurse and contributing to the research and development strategy.
