Pay Rate: £2,351.27 per month
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (30-minute lunch)
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
Health Assessments: Required annually
Flexible Working: Onsite
Job Purpose:
The General Duties Assistant (GDA) will work as part of the day shift team to support the safe and efficient operation of the plant. The role involves performing a variety of routine and non-routine duties, including plant cleaning, monitoring, first-line maintenance, and supporting operational and engineering teams. The GDA will also take responsibility for deliveries, site security, and ensuring that site cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plant Routines: Perform industrial cleaning, compliance-based monitoring, and routine plant checks.
* Supervision: Oversee and manage external industrial cleaning contractors.
* Delivery Management: Handle site deliveries, use forklifts/telehandlers for unloading, and ensure proper storage of items.
* Site Knowledge: Assist operational and maintenance teams by understanding and following site layout and systems.
* Security: Monitor and manage site security systems, liaise with control centers, emergency services, and handle site security-related tasks.
* Safety & Housekeeping: Promote and maintain safety and housekeeping standards on-site.
* First-Line Maintenance: Perform first-line maintenance within competency.
* Support: Assist with critical spares management, stock checks, and update the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
* Flexibility: Willingness to work additional hours during planned outages (e.g., annual outage of 13 days).
Key Skill Requirements:
* Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all stakeholders.
* IT Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email; familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
* Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of industry processes and systems.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge and experience in maintaining a safe workplace.
* Environmental & Commercial Awareness: Understanding the impact of operations on plant conditions.
* Licenses: Forklift, Telehandler, and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) licenses required.
* Experience: Relevant experience in a similar role or industry.
* Policy Compliance: Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
* Maintenance Skills: Experience in frontline maintenance duties.
* Operational Duties: Ability to manage deliveries, stock, and site security duties as required.
Main Duties:
* Cleaning & Maintenance: Ensure plant cleanliness using cleaning equipment and systems such as DISAB. Work with the team to identify and maintain plant areas requiring cleaning.
* Team Collaboration: Share tasks equally within the GDA team and assist other teams with proactive support.
* Stock & Welfare Management: Support the engineering team with stock management, including critical spares and consumables. Ensure welfare facilities are adequately stocked.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, aiming to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Additional Information:
* Forklift Training: Training will be provided, though prior experience is ideal.
* Shift Rotation: Weekly rotation, with each GDA covering one of the following areas: security gate, plant cleaning, and maintenance support.
* Planned Outages: Occasional overtime during planned outages, typically once per year.
The successful candidate will be an organized and proactive individual, with a strong understanding of plant operations, maintenance tasks, and safety protocols. They must be adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic team environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, security, and operational support.
