Job Description
TPF Recruitment is currently representing an established accountancy firm in Hove that is seeking a skilled Accounts Manager to join their team. This role offers an opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented accountant to take on the management and preparation of accounts and tax services for a varied client base, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. The Accounts Manager will report directly to the Partners, ensuring the delivery of exceptional client services and quality standards.
Account Preparation and Management:
* Prepare and oversee accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies using Iris software.
* Manage self-assessment tax returns, corporation tax computations, and VAT returns using software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
* Ensure all accounts and returns are accurate and submitted in line with relevant deadlines.
Client Interaction and Communication:
Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary information and documentation.
Build strong, long-lasting client relationships, identifying areas to add value and enhance satisfaction.
Provide additional support and advice to clients as needed.
Practice Management:
Oversee work-in-progress (WIP) control, client billing, and other administrative tasks.
Meet team and individual budget goals, while maintaining the highest professional standards.
Team Development:
Mentor and coach junior staff, helping to develop their technical and professional skills.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
5 GCSEs (Grades A-C), including Maths and English.
3 A Levels (Grades A-E), or equivalent.
Relevant professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA or ACA.
Experience:
At least 3 years’ experience in accounts and tax work in a professional setting.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, with the ability to prepare accounts from prime records.
Tax knowledge sufficient to prepare VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and self-assessment tax returns, including for individuals with rental income.
Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Personal Attributes:
Well-presented, organized, and conscientious, with a collaborative approach to team work.
Desirable Attributes:
Full UK driving license.
Knowledge of audit processes.
