Products are manufactured at company operated facilities in the East, South, and Midwestern United States.
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our team! The Product Development Engineer will design and develop new product improvements. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in design, evaluation, manufacturing, and application of new products. Additionally, the candidate should have strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM; Friday, 7:45 AM – 3:30 PM.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Work with a small team dedicated to the development of boilers and hot water heating products including supporting design, testing, procurement, and manufacturing start-up activities.
2. Develop new boilers and hot water heating products that are safe, reliable, and in alignment with company plans and project specifications.
3. Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company.
4. Procure materials needed to construct prototypes and supervise the design engineering of new models.
5. Plan and develop test programs for prototypes.
6. Create and maintain manuals and instructions following applicable codes, third party requirements, and company guidelines.
7. Provide sketches, markups, and direction to design drafters to create fabrication drawings.
8. Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
9. Analyze, evaluate, source, and coordinate the procurement of new materials to support model changes.
10. Perform technical analysis of competitive products.
11. Take initiative to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
12. Provide support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.
13. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from four-year college or university.
2. 5 years of experience in an engineering role.
3. Understanding of engineering principles: heat transfer, fluids, and combustion.
4. Analytical problem-solving capabilities and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
5. Working knowledge of computer-assisted engineering and design software.
6. Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple project tasks and responsibilities.
