We’re looking to bring in a talented Warehouse Shift Manager for our Night shift, for our new warehouse in Wakefield for our customer British Gypsum / Saint Gobain. You’ll be responsible for several FLT drivers, picking and loading from our northern distribution warehouse.
As Shift Manager, you will oversee a team of operatives and motivate them to do their job efficiently. You will provide daily objectives and ensure that your team meets the requirements of our stakeholders. Using effective communication, you will raise any issues with senior management to reach business goals effectively.
Pay, benefits and more:
We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £40,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:
1. Supervise and oversee the operation, ensuring all goods are put away and loaded for delivery.
2. Manage customer relationships, both indirectly and face to face on site.
3. Drive on-site loading efficiency and look at ways we can improve.
4. Lead, manage, and engage your team to get the best out of the shift.
5. Ensure colleagues follow all site rules relevant to their working area.
6. Drive a safety culture including reporting and record any Hazards / Near Misses / Spillages together with any Incidents / accidents according to company reporting requirements.
7. Manage your team members including payroll, performance management, and recruitment.
8. Utilise systems including SAP for inventory management.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
1. A track record at a supervisory or management level within a fast-paced warehouse operation.
2. A strong personality with the ability to effectively manage, push for operational excellence, and challenge the status quo.
3. A focus on health and safety – ideally with a recognised qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH/ Continuous Improvement).
4. MHE Awareness or Instructor.
5. Experience within stock and quality would be beneficial and utilisation of computerised systems.
6. Stakeholder management and effective communication skills both verbal and written at all levels.
7. Forklift licence - ideally counter balance.
