An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the R&D Team Department as a full-time R&D Project Scientist, at Innovia Films, Wigton.
Innovia Films are a leading global manufacturer of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) films, supplying highly differentiated speciality products into the packaging, labels, tobacco overwrap and securities markets.
What is this role?
We are looking for a R&D Project Scientist to join our R&D team. Reporting to our Surface Engineering Manager, you will work with and support our Project Leaders to deliver the R&D portfolio of projects to achieve business growth and product security. Contributing to effective project management you will be responsible for planning, organising, and executing new product and raw material project activities.
The responsibilities of the role will include:
* Planning and conducting experimental aspects of R&D projects.
* Maintaining high quality and traceable data related to all aspects of laboratory work.
* Collating and analysing experimental results, including the reporting of first conclusions.
* Contributing to effective project management, considering IP and regulatory aspects.
* Supporting Project Leaders in maintaining and expanding technical links with external contacts to facilitate the research and development of novel films.
* Liaising with other departments to ensure that all relevant technical information on new products/processes is prepared and made available.
What skills will you need?
Ideally, as the successful candidate for this role, you will be a team player, a logical thinker able to analyse and interpret scientific data and be able to deliver results under pressure with tight timescales. You will have excellent report writing skills and communication skills who can liaise with a variety of stakeholders comfortably.
In addition to this you should have degree level scientific qualification, preferably in Chemistry or Polymer Science. You would ideally also have experience of working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
What are we offering in return?
The salary for this role will be circa £33,000 per annum depending on relevant experience.
Additionally, you will be given 25 days holiday (plus 8 statutory bank holidays) per year.
